Statement of Experience (Relevant)

Virtually all construction projects of a commercial nature in the U.S. (that are designed and constructed by reputable firms) are constructed using similar organizational and managerial skills by the myriad of firms who provide such services. More specifically, the industry follows generally accepted guidelines that are promulgated by the many trade and professional organizations that represent the industry as a whole. This is not to suggest that all firms are the same. Rather, it is simply a representation that the industry generally follows basic fundamental guidelines. Accordingly, planning, managing and conducting construction audits of a given construction project is not materially different (process-wise) when compared to other projects. Audit skills, principles, techniques and experience that are gained through years of professional practice are easily “transferrable” to the next project audit. Moreover, extensive experience actually increases audit efficiency and effectiveness. Furthermore, the core set of construction audit skills can be utilized and applied to projects throughout the U.S. regardless of geographic location, project type, project complexity or firms involved. LEED projects, in particular, do not necessarily add any level of complexity from an audit and verification of a project cost standpoint.

Of course, every project is invariably different and each has its own unique set of parameters that must be considered. Expectedly, the audit of any given project may vary in time and effort because of such parameters. But, the execution of the audit would be expected to follow the same basic methodology. WiszCo (through the hands-on experience of John Wisz) has over 20 years of experience using proven audit techniques. These core audit techniques (“Standard Construction Audit Procedures”) were developed in conjunction with R. L. Townsend & Associates. However, simply performing a set of “standard audit procedures” or following a “generic audit program” does not guarantee effective audit results. It is equally important that the audit specialist has the appropriate experience and business acumen to discern what procedures may or may not be appropriate in the circumstances and to provide strategic advice to management in the execution of an audit. We firmly believe that we have acquired the relevant experience to assist any organization in accomplishing their construction audit objectives.
