Contract Negotiation
An oversight process that uses a broad range of tools to supplement an Owner’s ability to enter into effective and desirable agreements. Success in construction can usually be measured by an Owner’s ability to obtain and good contract and their ability to manage it, objectives that are often easier said than done. Another important factor is the selection criteria used to hire contractors. Tools that may be used in the negotiation of a contract may include pre-contract audit techniques, review of vendor qualifications, selection of vendors, selection of procurement methods, selecting the appropriate contract type, development of contract language and an evaluation of pricing data. Negotiating and entering into contract agreements is critically important to the overall process.
